Hide-And-Seek FPS Midnight Murder Club Is Hosting A Closed Beta Next Week

The team behind Knockout City is going in a very different direction for its next game. Velan Studios recently revealed Midnight Murder Club, a PvP shooter set (mostly) in a pitch-black mansion. Players use their flashlights to creep around the ornate halls, defeat other players, and sometimes even steal valuables before each round ends. And soon, you can do this yourself with an upcoming playtest.

Over on its Steam page, you can now request access for future playtests, and GameSpot is told a closed beta is coming on August 22 that will run until August 26. If, like me, you never really wanted to stop playing hide-and-seek and adulthood just sort of forced that upon you, Midnight Murder Club may be one to watch.

Kansas Leverages Sports Betting Revenue and STAR Bonds to Attract Major League Teams

Kansas is leveraging its burgeoning sports betting revenue to entice Kansas City sports teams to relocate across the state border. Gov. Laura Kelly recently signed HB 2001 into law, paving the way for Sales Tax and Revenue (STAR) Bonds to fund up to 70% of new stadium construction costs. This strategic move aims to secure new venues for professional sports teams, enhancing Kansas’ economic landscape.

Legislative approval and financial strategy:

During a swift legislative session, Kansas lawmakers overwhelmingly approved HB 2001, endorsing the use of STAR Bonds to finance stadium developments. The bill passed 84-38 in the House and 27-8 in the Senate, with implementation slated for July 1. This legislation marks a pr…

Like Mario, Zelda Series Should See 2D And 3D Games Going Forward

There is no need to argue about whether old-school, top-down The Legend of Zelda games are better than Link’s 3D adventures in Hyrule. Nintendo seems happy to continue making franchise installments in both genres.

Speaking with BBC, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma discussed the future of the series after the recent release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. “And so we will also have those dynamic 3D Zeldas (like Tears of the Kingdom) as well,” said Aonuma. “But in addition to that, we’re also hoping that we can continue with these 2D top-down Zeldas.” Come from Sports betting site VPbet

The Very Cool Halo Warthog Ride-On Is $100 Off At Walmart (It's For Kids, Sadly)

Updated on August 11, 2024: Walmart has discounted the Halo Warthog ride-on vehicle to $279, roughly $100 off its current $373 retail price. The Warthog originally launched in 2022 as a Walmart exclusive for a whopping $498.

The current discounted price is more in line with other “premium” ride-ons–but yes, it’s still pricey. Nevertheless, we can’t imagine this deal will stick around for long.

You can read our original story from 2022 below. I once again asked my son, who is now 3.5 years old if he wanted to play Halo Infinite with me. “I don’t like Halo,” he said. In other words, he still doesn’t know what Halo is. And my wife has once again informed me that our son “doesn’t need that” when I showed her the Warthog. How disappointing for my son, the huge H…

Xbox Fires Back At The FTC's Claims That Game Pass Has Been "Degraded"

The US government didn’t let Microsoft buy Activision Blizzard without a fight, although the Federal Trade Commission’s lawsuit to block the merger ultimately failed. Earlier this month, the FTC took aim at Microsoft again with a filing in federal court that claimed the new Xbox Game Pass tier was a “degraded product.” Now, Microsoft is firing back.

Via Game Developer, Microsoft responded to the FTC with a court filing of its own that was posted online by The Verge’s Tom Warren. The short version is that Microsoft acknowledges that the new Game Pass Standard tier is more expensive than the discontinued Game Pass Console tier, but it also offers multiplayer functionality that was previously sold separately. Additionally, the company argues that Game Pass Ultimate’s price increase i…
